Newly Appointed Director Of Nursing And Midwifery Services (DNMS), Donates Vein Finder To Pediatric Oncology Center

As a heartfelt parting gift, Ms. Comfort Asoogo, Director of Nursing and Midwifery Services of the Komfo Anokye Teaching Hospital, has donated a Vein Finder valued at about 10,000 USD to the Paediatric Oncology Unit of the Child Health Directorate of the hospital.

The acquisition of the device was made possible through generous donations from some friends of hers based in the United States of America.

Ms. Asoogo is an Oncology Nurse Specialist and a Fellow of the Ghana College of Nurses and Midwives who until her appointment on May 1st, 2026 was a Deputy Chief Nursing Officer in charge of the Paediatric Oncology Unit of KATH.

The vein finder is a vital medical device that uses advanced imaging technology to help healthcare professionals easily locate venous access. This is very important in paediatric oncology, where children undergoing cancer treatment often require frequent IV therapy. The device will significantly reduce pain, minimize multiple needle pricks, and improve the overall quality of life for paediatric patients.

Presenting the device, Ms. Asoogo said, during her time at the unit, she had a first-hand experience with the struggles trying to access veins. She expressed her deep appreciation to the donors for their generous support which made its acquisition and presentation to the unit possible.

Speaking on behalf of Unit, Prof. Vivian Painstil, expressed her deepest appreciation to Ms. Asoogo and her supporting friends for their thoughtfulness. She stated that the device is a much-needed machine and a relief to not just them but the children especially.

This thoughtful contribution reflects Ms. Asoogo’s dedication, compassion, and commitment to improving paediatric healthcare services. Her gesture not only strengthens the hospital’s capacity to deliver quality care but also leaves a lasting impact on the lives of children with
