Ambassador Nana Effah-Apenteng is a seasoned diplomat, a veteran traditional leader and an astute administrator of many years standing. He holds a Bachelor of Arts, BA (Hons) Political Science and Masters of Arts, MA in African Studies from University of Ghana, Legon. He obtained a Diploma in Public Administration in 1974 and Certificate in Diplomacy in 1975 from the Ghana Institute of Management and Public Administration (GIMPA) and Oxford University, respectively. Ambassador Nana Effah-Apenteng is currently the chairman of the Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology (KNUST) Council, member of the board of Middle-Belt Development Authority and also the chairman of the immediate past 5th KATH Board. Ambassador Nana Effah-Apenteng spent most of his working life at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Ghana. He has a rich background and experience in foreign and international affairs and has served in various capacities at both local and international levels.

He was the Ambassador and Permanent Representative, Permanent Mission of Ghana to the United Nations, New York, from 2000-2007 and was the Special Advisor on African Affairs to President J.A. Kufuor. Ambassador Nana Effah-Apenteng was the Chief of Staff of the eminent African personalities established by the African Union (AU) to mediate the 2007/ 2008 Kenya post-elections crisis which comprised, H.E. Kofi Annan, former UN Secretary General as Chairman with Ms. Graca Mandela (Machel) and H.E. Benjamin Mkapa, former President of Tanzania as Members.

Nana is currently the Paramount Chief of Bompata Traditional Area and a member of the Standing Committee of the Ashanti Regional House of Chiefs. He is one of the five Paramount Chiefs representing the Ashanti Regional House of Chiefs at the National House of Chiefs of Ghana, where he is Chairman of the External Relations Committee. He is also the Deputy Chief of staff at the Otumfuo’s Secretariat at Manhyia Palace.

Prof. Dr. Otchere Addai-Mensah has formally assumed duty as the new Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of the Komfo Anokye Teaching Hospital (KATH) in Kumasi following his nomination to the position by His Excellency President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo and subsequent approval by the Board effective 1st December, 2022.

The new  CEO’s substantive appointment was finalised by the KATH Board chaired by Ambassador Nana Effah-Apenteng after he had successfully passed the appointment interview at the Public Services Commission in line with the guidelines on such high profile engagements.

Prof. Addai-Mensah succeeded Dr. Oheneba Owusu-Danso who finally retired from public service on 1st November, 2022 after nearly five and half years in office.

Until his appointment, Prof. Addai-Mensah was an Associate Professor of Haematology, Immunology and Global Health in the Department of Medical Diagnostics, College of Health Sciences of the Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology (KNUST). He was also the Vice-Dean of Students at the University.

Prof. Addai-Mensah is a trained medical doctor and holds a BSc in Human Biology and an MBChB (General Medicine) from the then School of Medical Sciences of KNUST. He also holds a MSc. in Biomedical Sciences from the University of Westminster in London-UK, and a PhD. in Immunology and Biotechnology from the prestigious RWTH University in Aachen, Germany. He had also completed the taught component of an MBA programme in Strategic Management.

Prof. Addai-Mensah previously worked as a Researcher at the Fraunhofer Institute for Molecular Biology and Applied Ecology in Germany, and as a Resident in the Department of Pathology at the Komfo Anokye Teaching Hospital in Kumasi. He was a member of the board of the Nursing and Midwifery Council Ghana and National Vice President of the University Teachers Association (UTAG-KNUST and Ghana). He is a member of both the British Society of Immunology and the Ghana Medical Association (GMA).

Prof. Addai-Mensah has extensive experience in scientific research and general management, and has a number of publications in reputable journals to his credit. His research interests are in Infectious Diseases, Malariology, Biomedical Sciences, Immuno-epidemiology, Haematology, Immunology, Transfusion Medicine and Public Health.

At various meetings with stakeholders since his assumption of office, Prof. Addai-Mensah, re-echoed  that his vision is to transform KATH into a resilient and most patient-centric tertiary facility in Ghana. He said he hopes to achieve this through the provision of impactful leadership that prioritizes the needs of patients, staff supervision, discipline and motivation.

Another strategy for achieving the above vision, he emphasised, is to embark on aggressive renovation, expansion and upgrading of infrastructure to create conducive environment for optimal specialist patient care. This will be realised through the judicious use of Internally Generated Fund (IGF) and forging strategic networking and partnership with the private sector, he stressed.

Prof. Addai-Mensah has, consequently, appealed to all stakeholders to regard this as a collective vision and contribute their quota to reposition the hospital as the most preferred tertiary healthcare provider in Ghana.

Mr. Opoku-Agyemang Esq., is a renowned legal practitioner and Solicitor of the Supreme Court of Ghana with over twenty-five (25) years at the bar. He holds two Master of Law Degrees (LLM) from the Universities of Queens (Canada) and Utah (USA), Barrister- at- Law (BL) and Bachelor of Laws (LLB) from Ghana School of Law and the University of Ghana respectively, and also Diploma in Journalism from the Ghana Institute of Journalism.

He is currently a Senior Lecturer at the Ghana School of Law. Prior to his appointment to the KATH Board, Mr. Opoku-Agyemang was the Acting Director of the Ghana School of Law and Acting Director, Legal Education on the General Legal Council. He has served on several Boards including, General Legal Council and Legal Aid Commission as well as Konongo Odumasi Senior High School among others. He has authored and published numerous peer-reviewed journal articles on environmental law and policy.

 

Dr. Caroline Reindorf Amissah is a Public Health Specialist with over 10 years clinical and health systems strengthening experience both local and international. Dr. Amissah obtained her BSc in Human Biology and MB ChB from the School of Medical Sciences and Dentistry of the Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology.
She holds a Masters (MSc) degree in Health Policy, Planning and Financing as well as a Diploma in Public Health from the London School of Economics and Political Science (LSE) and the London School of Hygiene and Tropical Medicine (LSHTM) both of the University of London. Dr. Reindorf Amissah is a member of the West Africa College of Physicians and the Ghana Medical Association. She is a member of the Health Sector Working Group and the National Steering Committee and Technical Working Group, Non-Communicable Disease Programme of the Ministry of Health (MOH). She has published several peer-reviewed journal articles on health care delivery in Ghana.

Dr. William Kwadwo Antwi is a distinguished Radiographer. He is a Senior Lecturer and Head of Department of Radiography, School of Biomedical and Allied Health Sciences, College of Health Sciences, University of Ghana. Dr. Antwi has a strong academic background in Radiography. He holds a Ph.D. Radiography from Sheffield Hallam University, Sheffield; Msc. from the University of Wales College of Medicine, Cardiff UK; BTec. (Hons) in Radiography from University of Johannesburg. He is a member of the Radiography International Advisory Board and Examiners Board of the Allied Health Professions Council.
He has authored and published three books and numerous peer-reviewed scientific articles.

Pharm. Charles Dontoh is an accomplished Pharmacist with rich experience in pharmaceutical practice in both local and international circles. He holds a Bachelor of Pharmacy degree from the Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology (KNUST) in Kumasi and a Fellow of the Ghana College of Pharmacists.
Pharm. Charles Dontoh was the Regional Manager and Sales Training Manager for West and Southern Africa Regions for the Pharmacia & UPJOHN Company of the USA from October 1996 to September 2003 after which he established the Fairmile Group of companies of which he is the Chief Executive till date. Pharm. Dontoh is a member of the Pharmaceutical Society of Ghana (PSGH), Commonwealth Pharmacists Association and the International Pharmaceutical Federation. He was a member of the immediate past Board of the hospital of which he was the chairman of its Technical and Planning Committee, a position he has retained on the current Board.

Ms. Hannah Okyere-Boateng is a veteran midwife and nurse educator. She is a product of the Nursing and Midwifery Training College, Korle-Bu. She holds Diploma in Nursing Education and Administration, Bachelor of Arts (BA) in Nursing with Psychology and Master of Science (MSc) in Nursing all from the University of Ghana.
She also holds a Post-graduate Diploma in Education from the University of Cape Coast.
Ms. Okyere-Boateng has over 18 years teaching experience in the training of nurses and midwives. She was a tutor at the Nursing and Midwifery Training College in Koforidua from 1999 until her retirement in 2017.

Ms. Okyere-Boateng is a Foundation Fellow of the Ghana College of Nurses and Midwives as well as a Fellow of the West Africa College of Nurses. She is a member of the Ghana Association of Health Tutors and Ghana Registered Nurses and Midwives Association. She is currently a lecturer at the All Nations University, Koforidua and University of Ghana (Distance Learning).

Prof. Sr. Frances Emily Owusu-Ansah is an eminent Clinical Psychologist who over the years has provided extensive voluntary services at the community, national and international levels in her area of specialization.
Prof. Sr. Owusu-Ansah obtained her Ph.D. in clinical Psychology and MSc in Community and Clinical Psychology from Florida State University and Florida A&M University respectively. She holds a Bachelor of Arts in Psychology from St. Francis Xavier University, Nova Scotia in Canada.
She was the Vice Dean of Students for KNUST from July, 2012 to August, 2016. Prof. Sr. Owusu-Ansah is currently the Head of Department of Behavioural Sciences, KNUST and has over 18 years teaching experience and adolescent/adult psychotherapy practice. She has authored and published numerous peer-reviewed articles.

Professor Daniel Ansong is a product of the KNUST Medical School and the current Dean of the School of Medicine and Dentistry (SMD) of the Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology.
Until his appointment as the Dean of SMD, he was the Deputy Director of Research and Development at KATH, a position he held for six (6) years.
He was also the head of the Paediatric Emergency Unit (PEU) of KATH for ten (10) years and on several occasions acted as the Medical Director of KATH. Prof. Ansong is respected both at international and local circles for his broad academic and research experience in paediatric health care and nutrition. He has carved a niche for himself in the area of research and thus, authored several articles.

Dr. Kofi Osei-Afoakwa holds Bachelors, Masters and Doctoral degrees in Accounting and Finance. He is a Chartered Accountant, with over 36 years working experience in teaching and financial administration in higher educational institutions and public accounting practice. Dr. Osei-Afoakwa was the Director of Finance at the University of Mines and Technology (UMaT), Tarkwa and Ho Polytechnic from 2006-2015 and 1995 to 2006 respectively. He worked at the Polytechnic of Birnin-Kebbi in Nigeria from 1981- 1995, where he rose through the ranks to become the Director of Finance, as well as Deputy Rector with supervisory authority over the Finance Directorate. From the year 2002-2008, Dr. Osei-Afoakwa was the Managing Partner of Osei Kpodo and Associates. Dr. Osei-Afoakwa is currently the Managing Consultant of Osei-Afoakwa Consult, a Chartered Accounting firm, which provides auditing and accounting services to its clients.

Dr. Osei-Afoakwa is member of the Institute of Chartered Accountants, Ghana, Certified Fraud Examiners and Association of National Accountants of Nigeria. He is the author of numerous peer-reviewed articles in public accounting journals.

Dr. Kwaku Oteng is an accomplished Businessman and Entrepreneur. He is the Chief Executive Officer of the Angel Group of companies, a business conglomerate comprising of Angel Broadcasting Services Limited, Angel Transport and Trading Limited, Angel Estate and Construction, as well as Angel Natural Mineral Water and Adonko Bitters Limited, among others.
Dr. Oteng has over the years received several awards including, the Entrepreneur of the Year Award in 2013 for his contribution towards economic growth and job creation in Ghana.
In 2017, he received the Outstanding Industrialist Award, which honors Ghanaians whose contributions have facilitated the transformation of various indigenous industries in Ghana.
He is widely known for his philanthropic services, including funding scholarships for needy students over the years.
