The Minister for Health, Hon. Kwaku Agyemang, has toured the new Maternity and Children’s block project under construction at the Komfo Anokye Teaching Hospital (KATH) to assess the progress of work as part of his inspection visit to ongoing hospital projects in the Ashanti Region.
Accompanied by a KATH management team led by the Medical Director and the Ag. Chief Executive Officer of the hospital, Dr. Kwadwo Sarbeng, the Hon. Minister was taken round the seven-storey block by Nana Abu-Bonsra, Lead Consultant of Archito Consult, the project consultants.
“I’m glad to see that there is something new and beautiful coming up to replace the old building that was demolished due to its weakness. This project wouldn’t have been possible but for the approval and support of the President and the massive advocacy works of the Asantehene, Otumfuo Osei-Tutu II”, he stated.
He said there was no problem with funding for the project and therefore, do not expect any delay in its execution and charged the contractor and the consultants for the project to ensure that it is delivered within the stipulated completion period of 36 months.
The Project Manager of Archito Consult, Mr. Emmanuel Fordua Asabre told the Hon. Minister and his team that the project was proceeding according to schedule and was expected to be completed around May, 2024 as expected.
Dr. Sarbeng on behalf of the hospital conveyed the appreciation of management, staff and patients to the Minister for Health and the government for the project.
