Retina Surgical Training at KATH
The Retina Unit of the Komfo Anokye Teaching Hospital Eye Centre was glad to host Professor Paul Bernstein and his team from the Moran Eye centre, University of Utah for a 5-day intensive hands-on training for two retina fellows, Drs Maame Temah Appiah Berko and Peter Forson Ackah; as well as training for scrub nurses at the Eye Centre.
Lectures were also given to inspire more research at the Eye unit.
Envision Africa also represented to help set-up the Oertli Faros machine and providing training for Vitreoretinal surgeries as an addition to the existing Alcon Constellation Vitreotomy machine.
A total of 26 retina surgeries were performed, the highest number ever performed in 5 days at the Eye centre.
