KATH CEO Holds Strategic Engagement With Suppliers
The Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of the Komfo Anokye Teaching Hospital (KATH), Dr. (Med) Paa Kwesi Baidoo, has held a strategic meeting with the suppliers of the hospital with the objective of building a mutually beneficial partnership to advance the delivery of specialized healthcare services to the public.
The meeting, the first since his assumption of office since May 2025, created a platform for renewed collaboration and shared responsibility in advancing healthcare delivery at KATH. It also provided the CEO with the opportunity to formally introduce himself to the suppliers as the new head of the institution and to outline his vision of stronger partnerships built on trust, compliance and efficiency.
At the heart of the engagement was a clear recognition that suppliers are integral to the operations of the hospital, with the CEO emphasising that “without you we are no longer a hospital.” He noted that the steady and compliant supply of medicines, consumables, equipment and essential services remains directly linked to patient care and overall service delivery. “Strengthening procurement processes therefore remains a critical priority for Management,” he stressed.
Facilitated by the Head of the Supply Chain Management Unit (SCMU), Mr. Joseph Opoku-Agyemang, the session focused on improving compliance and streamlining procurement procedures. Attention was drawn to recurring errors in the submission of tender documents, which often delay processing and affect outcomes. To address these challenges, a detailed PowerPoint presentation updated participants on the tendering process and the correct procedures to ensure successful outcomes.
The engagement was highly interactive, with suppliers being given the opportunity to ask pertinent questions and introduce themselves and their respective companies. This fostered familiarity and strengthened institutional relationships. The comprehensive question and answer session allowed for clarification, feedback and constructive suggestions on improving the system.
Management also reiterated the basic requirements for transacting business with a public institution, including valid business registration, tax clearance, SSNIT compliance and strict adherence to public procurement regulations.
The engagement reinforced KATH’s commitment to transparency, accountability and partnership, positioning suppliers not merely as service providers but as indispensable collaborators in sustaining quality specialist healthcare delivery.
